This past January, the Forest Society was selected by the Littleton Co-op in Littleton, NH, to be their Non-Profit Partner of the Month!

The Forest Society applied to be considered for this partnership in 2024, and was voted to join a list of eleven other non profits who would represent partnerships for each month of the year. Each non-profit selected for the program serves a different part of the North Country community, from performing arts to animal rights to outdoor recreation access for all.

During the month of January, Co-op cashiers asked customers checking out if they wanted to round up their total to the next whole dollar; the money that came from that rounding up became a donation. Donation bins for cash and change were also kept at the end of the register.

100% of these donations are received by the non-profit partner of the month.

By the end of January, the Co-op raised over $4,500 for Forest Society North at The Rocks!

"We are honored to have been chosen by the members of the Littleton Food Co-op as their Partner of the Month," says Program Director at The Rocks, Kristine Arey, "We were blown away by the generosity of everyone who donated and rounded up their totals."

The Partner of the Month program speaks to the co-op's seventh principle: "Concern for Community." Not only is the partner of the month highlighted at the co-op registers, but also identified in Co-op newsletters, social media, on the store's website and in co-op newspaper ads.

"We enjoy partnering with the co-op and other organizations in the area to help foster the spirit of community here in the North country," adds Arey, "Both of our organizations have a similar goal of promoting environmental sustainability locally. Working together, we can truly advance that goal."
