Fifty-Mile Wantastiquet to Monadnock Trail Completed

by Meghan Foley, Keene Sentinel

Celebratory hikes of sections of the newly-completed Wantastiquet to Mount Monadock (above) trail will be held this spring, summer, and fall.

Two prominent mountains in the Monadnock Region, miles and towns apart, now share a link that could bring them a little closer together.

The Wantastiquet-Monadnock Trail (WMT) Coalition recently announced the completion of the Wantastiquet-Monadnock Trail, a project that has been at least two decades in the making.

The trail, which is about 50 miles long, runs from the base of Mount Wantastiquet in Hinsdale to the summit of Mount Monadnock in Jaffrey and Dublin. It passes through notable natural areas including the Madame Sherri Forest in Chesterfield, Pisgah State Park in Hinsdale, Chesterfield and Winchester, the Horatio Colony Preserve in Keene, the Cheshire Rail Trail from Keene to Troy and Gap Mountain in Troy.
