Inside the Restoration of The Rocks

Wondering what's going on at The Rocks in Bethlehem these days? Answer your curiosity by joining Anne Truslow and Nigel Manley for a "virtual tour" of the Forest Society North at The Rocks restoration project in progress.

Our team has been working tirelessly to renovate and re-envision this beloved and historic White Mountain estate since the fire that destroyed it four years ago. We can't wait to show you the results later this year.

This Zoom presentation will help you learn more about  the 1,400 acre estate that was donated to the Forest Society in 1978 by descendants of John Jacob Glessner.

You will get a peek at the 1884 stone Carriage Barn found at the top of Glessner Road which will be turned into a new net-zero program center. Additionally, marvel at the views of the White Mountains from our new hillside amphitheater that replaced the Tool Building and Electric Plant that were lost to the fire in 2019.

The Rocks currently functions as a Christmas Tree farm and houses the NH Maple Museum. At this tour, learn how the renovation will allow the Forest Society to fully establish a presence in the North country with a center of operations for land conservation, sustainable forestry, public education and interpretive programs — while creating a spectacular multi-use venue for all kinds of events from quiet hikes to animated community events.
