Explore nearly 200 forests protected by the Forest Society across New Hampshire, many of which have marked trails and numerous recreational uses.
All of our forests are open to the public. Only two — Lost River Gorge and Monadnock Reservation — recommend advance registration.
The Rocks
Visit the Forest Society's working tree farm to harvest-your-own Christmas Tree in the winter and for sugar season in the spring, when the maple sap is boiling in our sugarhouse. Year-round, you can walk the peaceful trails and learn about the natural world at an educational program.
Conservation Center
Visit the headquarters of the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests, located in Concord, on 103 acres of conserved land known as the Merrimack River Outdoor Education & Conservation Area. The Conservation Center demonstrates the use of renewable natural resources and energy conservation techniques.
Creek Farm
Once part of the 18th-century farm of royal Gov. Benning Wentworth, this coastal hideaway borders the shoreline of tidal Sagamore Creek in Portsmouth. The Forest Society Education Center hosts programs and guided walks presented by the Forest Society, and summer camps run by the Gundalow Company.
Mount Major
Welcome to the Mt. Major trail network, which leads to the summit of Mt. Major and other hiking destinations in the Belknap range. The summit of Mt. Major (1,786 ft) offers views that are among the best in southern New Hampshire for the effort required.

Free Mobile App!
Visitors to our reservations can now access information about land and trails easily from their mobile devices. Using the OuterSpatial platform, the Forest Society's mobile application is free for iPhone and Android devices. The app includes offline mapping and navigation — even without a cell phone signal.
Winter Recreation
12 of our properties have regularly plowed parking during snowy months and you can search our Forest Reservation Guide by activity, including cross-country skiing and snow-mobiling.
