"Treasured Memories" Watercolor Exhibit on Display at Conservation Center

May 31, 2014

Opening Reception June 19

Conrad Young shares his best memories of growing up in rural New Hampshire and Maine in an exhibit of watercolor paintings at the Conservation Center in Concord during June, July and August. Young will host an opening reception for the exhibit, called Treasured Memories of Quieter Times, on June 19 from 2 to 4 p.m. Young's portrayals of woods, flowers and mountains evoke the serenity of nature in all seasons, while his covered bridges and historical buildings celebrate New Hampshire’s heritage.

Young studied at the Van Emburgh School of Art in Plainfield, N.J., and later took advanced courses at New York University. This training led to the founding of the Young Advertising Agency and his lifelong career.

As a water color painter, Young often hearkens back to his youth. His father, a logger and blacksmith, also raised horses, so much of Young’s childhood was spent in the woods and hayfields. His Treasured Memories exhibit includes some of the most picturesque covered bridges around New Hampshire. Examples of Young’s watercolors can be viewed online at www.watercolorbyconradyoung.com.

Young’s exhibit is open for viewing Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Conservation Center Conference Room, located at 54 Portsmouth St. in Concord. The Conference Room is used for meetings, so please call (603) 224-9945 before visiting to make sure it’s open.
