Northern Pass Losing Big at Town Meetings
Northern Pass is being discussed at a number of Town Meetings this March, and the early results indicated that few, if any, residents support it. As of March 14, 28 New Hampshire communities have taken votes to oppose the project, most of these by wide margins. In Bath, Clarksville, Colebrook, Dalton, Easton, Orford and Sugar Hill, the voters opposed the transmission tower project unanimously .
The communities that have voted to oppose Northern Pass include Bath, Bethlehem, Bridgewater, Campton, Chichester, Clarksville, Colebrook, Columbia, Dalton, Easton, Effingham, Haverhill, Holderness, Jefferson, Lancaster, Landaff, Lincoln, Littleton, Northumberland, Orford, Pembroke, Pittsburg, Stewartstown, Stratford, Sugar Hill, Thornton, Wentworth, and Woodstock. The Bury the Northern Pass blog is keeping an updated tally here.
Governor Lynch has been quoted as saying that he would not support the proposal if the communities don't want it. Let's hope he's listening.
