Hopkinton Couple Donates Conservation Easement on Scenic Road, Conserving Wildlife Habitat
Don and Susan Ware recently donated a conservation easement on 50 acres in Hopkinton to the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests. The newly conserved land is located on Patch Road —a town designated Scenic Road. Featuring several small wetlands, vernal pools, and an intermittent brook that crosses the property, the land also offers valuable habitat for wildlife.
This land abuts another 119 acres on which the couple donated a conservation easement to the Forest Society in 2007. The Wares now own 169 conserved acres that include 2,750 feet of frontage on picturesque Patch Road.
“We’re honored to work with Don and Susan to conserve some of Hopkinton’s most scenic resources,” said Forest Society President/Forester Jane Difley. “The Wares have not only been active in conserving more abutting land along Patch Road, but they are also encouraging their neighbors to follow suit with donated easements.”
Founded in 1901, the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests is the state’s oldest and largest non-profit land conservation organization. Supported by 10,000 families and businesses, the Forest Society’s mission is to perpetuate the state’s forests by promoting land conservation and sustainable forestry.
