Portsmouth Street Parking Lot Temporarily Closed

Concord, N.H., July 27, 2007—The Society for the Protection of NH Forests (Forest Society) announced today that the trailhead parking lot of the Merrimack River Outdoor Education and Conservation Area will be temporarily closed starting on Monday July 30th.

The closure is scheduled to last approximately two weeks due to a wetlands restoration project occurring adjacent to Mill Brook. The trails are still open to the public but visitors are asked to use the upper parking lot at the Forest Society’s Conservation Center and walk down the road to access the trails. The Forest Society appreciates visitor patience during the wetlands restoration project.

The 100-acre Merrimack River Outdoor Education and Conservation Area is owned and maintained by the Forest Society, and home to their award winning Conservation Center which sits atop a bluff overlooking the Merrimack River. The Conservation Center and not-so-ordinary gift shop are open to the public weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
