Kinder Morgan says it has more than 60 percent of the long-term contracts for natural gas delivery needed to build the Northeast Energy Direct pipeline, with more on the way.
Long-term commitments for space on the pipeline are essential, since the company could not build it otherwise.
Opponents of the new pipeline, which would run through much of southern New Hampshire, had been hoping it might die on its own through lack of market interest, but that now appears unlikely.
