The House Ways and Means Committee unanimously rejected House Bill 621. The legislation would have allowed the county registers of deeds to keep up to 10 percent of LCHIP’s dedicated $25 fee. This fee supports the program’s mission. Diverting that level of funds would have undermined LCHIP’s mission.
The Forest Society opposed the bill. The significant point to highlight about the unanimous opposition to the bill is that it demonstrates the strong bipartisan support in the New Hampshire Legislature for LCHIP.
