New Hampshire Legislature Returns to Action

Advocacy

The State Legislature is slowly resuming activities since the Covid-19 pandemic forced it to suspend its work in mid-March. Several committees and commissions had been holding hearings remotely over the last several weeks. On May 15, Speaker of the House Stephen Shurtleff announced the full House of Representatives will meet on June 11 at the Whittemore Center Arena at the University of New Hampshire.

This session will only be the second time in the history that the NH House of Representatives has met outside of Representatives Hall at the State House. House Leadership determined that the Whittemore Center is the facility best suited to allow its 400 members to follow social distancing guidelines.

The State Senate has not announced when the full Senate will conduct a session. However, it has been discussed, interestingly, that the Senate could meet in Representatives Hall instead of its chambers.

The House Calendar provides a list of the bills the House will consider on June 11.
