Governor Sununu vetoed House Bill 1454 a bill that proposed to set in statute a formula for determining the distance for which a new landfill shall be located from a river, lake, or coastal water. The Forest Society supported this bill and testified in support of it during the bill’s hearings.

The Governor made a statement on his veto.

While disappointing, the Legislature will have an opportunity to override the veto when it reconvene later this year.  We will provide an update when the date for the next Legislative session has been scheduled.
