The Forest Society submitted comments to the New Hampshire Division of Forests and Lands regarding the proposed 2020 New Hampshire Forest Action Plan.

The State Forest Action Plan is a 10-year strategic plan for New Hampshire's forests that provides longā€term, comprehensive and coordinated strategies for addressing the challenges and opportunities facing New Hampshire's forests. All states are required to develop such a plan in order to receive federal funds from the Cooperative Forestry Assistance Act. This law authorizes the federal government to provide financial and technical assistance to states and private landowners forestry-related issues including forest management and stewardship, fire protection, insect and disease control, reforestation and stand improvement, and urban forestry.

The comment period for the NH FAP has now closed. The Division of Forests and Lands anticipates releasing the final approved plan by the end of 2020.
