The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) will be holding two public events in December-one virtually and one in-person- to update the public about the development of the New Hampshire Comprehensive Climate Action Plan (CCAP) program.

In August 2023, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded the NH DES a grant under the federal Climate Pollution Reduction Grants (CPRG) program. This award required the state to undertake three key steps:

  • Development of the Priority Climate Action Plan by March 1, 2024.
  • Development of a Comprehensive Climate Action Plan (CCAP) by August 2025.
  • Submittal of a Status Report by August 2027

The PCAP describes the first steps the State plans reduce GHG emissions and associated co-pollutants.

New Hampshire met the first deadline which allowed which allowed NHDES to apply for funding to implement GHG reduction measures that NHDES described in the PCAP.
