Members of Congress, including those from the New Hampshire delegation recently sent a letter to Congressional leaders in support of increased funding in the President’s Federal Fiscal year 2024 Budget for the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF).

The passage of the Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA) in 2020 fully funded the LWCF for the first time in the program’s history. However, despite that milestone action, the programs under the LWCF umbrella are oversubscribed, and, unfortunately, the GAOA has not eliminated the backlog of time-sensitive conservation priorities.

The purpose of the Congressional letter is to address the continuing rapid nature loss, persistent inequality of access to parks and outdoor recreation opportunities, and growing climate impacts.
