First Day 2105 - 100 people hiked along the Parker Trail at Monadnock State Park.

Welcome to the First Day of 2015!

The goal of the "First Day" hike series offered by State Parks Divisions nationwide is to annually provide family-friendly, healthy, outdoor exercise opportunities to kick-off the new year and perhaps even jump-start New Year's resolutions! More than 200 people attended the "First Day" hikes at Wentworth-Coolidge Mansion, State Historic Site and adjacent Creek Farm in Portsmouth.

Meanwhile, nearly one hundred hearty hikers joined Forest Society land steward volunteers and NH State Parks staff at Mount Monadnock for a guided hike along the Parker Trail for spectacular views, fresh air and a glimpse of local wildlife!

Hikers ventured to a spectacular view on the south shoulder of Monadnock near the Old Toll Road.

Even the local white tailed deer enjoyed the snow-free woods on New Year's Day!
