ST. MARY’S BANK SUPPORTS FOREST CONSERVATION

Members switching to e-statements generate $1,000 donation for the
Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests

St. Mary’s Bank donated $1,000 to the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests as a result of a successful campaign to encourage members to switch to electronic bank statements. The Manchester-based credit union donated $2 for each of the 500 members who made the switch.

“This is the second year that we’ve held this promotion to encourage our members to switch from paper statements to e-statements,” said Elizabeth Stodolski, director of marketing for St. Mary’s. “Like the Forest Society, we want to use New Hampshire’s forest resources efficiently and sustainably. Electronic statements are more secure, cost less, and reduce the amount of paper used.”

For each member who uses electronic statements only, the credit union saves money on postage and paper as well as running the equipment to process statements. Because St. Mary’s Bank is a member-owned credit union, its member benefits from these cost savings as well.

“We’re pleased to be part of this innovative program,” said Jane Difley, president/forester of the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests. “Not only are we grateful for the generous donation, but we’re delighted to collaborate with St. Mary’s Bank and its members to use our natural resources as efficiently as possible.”

The Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests is the state’s oldest and largest non-profit land conservation and forestry organization. In order to preserve the quality of life New Hampshire residents know today, the Forest Society collaborates with other conservation organizations, private landowners, businesses, and government agencies to conserve the state’s most significant natural lands for trails, parks, farms and forests.
