The Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests, which has attempted to block the project through the acquisition of easements and property rights in the North Country, said the EIS confirmed the benefit of burying the line.
“It comes as no surprise to us that Northern Pass’ preferred alternative, a largely overhead line, was determined to be the most environmentally damaging of the 11 alternatives that the EIS studied,” society spokesman Jack Savage said.
