DURHAM, N.H. —New Hampshire public opinion appears to have shifted narrowly against the controversial Northern Pass project to deliver 1,090 megawatts of Canadian-generated hydro power to New England via nearly 200 miles of transmission lines that would cut through the Granite State.
A new WMUR Granite State Poll shows that for the first time since the summer of 2013, more Granite Staters oppose the project than support it.
The poll, conducted by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center between April 18 and May 3, showed that 35 percent of those with some familiarity with the project support it, while 39 percent oppose it, and 26 percent are neutral. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percent.
