The Champlin Forest, in the heart of Rochester, is an urban gem enjoyed by locals daily. Come learn to see our urban forests and every-day walks in a new light with a hike highlighting our trees, wetlands, and even an old quarry! 

In this Volunteer Trailhead Outreach Program, we engage and share information with visitors at the Mt Major trailhead parking area under our pavilion during the months of April - November.

Learn about the MAPS (Monitoring Avian Productivity and Survivorship) breeding bird banding happening at the Black Mountain Banding Station in Sutton, NH. You'll be able to observe lead bander Lindsay Herlihy band and measure any songbirds captured before they are released unharmed. This is a great chance to see these wonderful creatures up close!

Come join us for a fulfilling and fun hike for the whole family! Unplug and enjoy nature, play, learning, community, and movement in one of the most diverse natural landscapes in the area. 

Join us for a day with our partner volunteer group from Mainstay Technologies to assist with stewardship tasks at our beautiful Rocks location in Bethlehem. 

Visit a forest demonstration area located around a very popular hiking trail on Mt Monadnock that has experienced several decades of continuous careful forest management to improve the residual stand of timber and recruit the next age class of forest.  Learn about past, present and future management and how forestry prescriptions have changed the forest while adding value: improving the forest health, resiliency, and timber value.   

The tidal Sagamore Creek is brimming with a multitude of little creatures, if we pause for a moment to look! Much enrichment will be available, from structured activities to free-form exploration, all on our shady, breezy shoreline.
