The Rocks closed its doors on its last holiday weekend of the season this past Sunday, and the sparkling, magical moments witnessed throughout are now memories.
With the help of staff, volunteers, community members, several inches of snow and a whole lot of fun, Forest Society North at The Rocks sold over 1,400 cut-your-own trees and 743 handmade wreaths.
With four weekends between Thanksgiving and Christmas instead of five, this shorter-than-usual season was still a festive frenzy of kettle corn, sleigh bells, Santa hats, s'mores by the fire, holiday crafts, sledding through the snow, rosy cheeks, frosted boughs, and a partridge in a pear tree (or rather a cardinal in a Fir tree).
Families traveled from all over to find their perfect Christmas tree (notable journeyers came from Southern Connecticut; Cape Cod, MA; Lake Tahoe, NV; and the United Kingdom) and veteran visitors returned for longstanding family traditions of photo-ops in front of the Rocks sign, carriage rides through the fields, and hikes over snowy trails.
In preparation for the New Year, and in observance of the holidays, The Rocks will be closed December 25th-27th and on New Year's Day. We will return to our standard hours, open Tuesday-Saturday, 10am- 4pm, starting the 22nd of December. Restrooms inside the Carriage Barn remain open from 7am-5pm, and the grounds are open to visitors from dawn to dusk.
