The Science, Technology and Energy has extended to Monday morning the hearing on House Bill 609, legislation that would significantly change New Hampshire’s law for the siting of large-scale energy projects. The bill proposes to eliminate the Site Evaluation Committee (SEC) and move the decision-making authority for the siting large-scale energy facilities to the NH Public Utilities Commission. The Forest Society opposes HB 609 and testified against it.

Due to the large number of people who wished to speak at the hearing, the Committee Chairman extended the hearing to Monday morning at 9 AM. We expect the Committee will vote on HB 609 after the public hearing has concluded on Monday.
