28 professionals toured the recent wildlife habitat and forestry work that has been conducted at Heald Tract in Wilton.
Forest Society foresters recently attended a regional conference with over 400 natural resource professionals from across New England. The New England Society of American Foresters meeting featured presentations on a wide variety of topics from wildlife habitat to archaeology, old growth forests to gender and sexuality in our profession.
It was a great way to learn about the latest forestry research and network with our colleagues. Staff forester Gabe Roxby hosted a field trip on the final day at the Forest Society’s Heald Tract in Wilton.
Along with co-leaders Jeremy Turner from Meadowsend Consulting Company and Matt Tarr from UNH Cooperative Extension, 28 professionals toured the recent wildlife habitat and forestry work that has been conducted on the property.
The recently fallen 2+ feet of snow slowed the group down, but it didn’t stop us or dampen our spirits. It was a beautiful day! We had great discussions about invasive species, forestry research, pollinator management, and strategies for talking with the public about the good work we do in the woods.
