The Forest Society testified in support of House Bill 1005, legislation that would establish the New Hampshire low-grade timber and wood emerging market commission. The NH House of Representatives approved it on February 16.

The bill aims to address how the contraction of low-grade wood markets has placed stresses on the forest products sector and the private landowners who hold over 70% of the forested areas in New Hampshire.

It now moves over to the NH Senate for consideration. The hearing date in the Senate has not been scheduled yet. We will post an update when it has been set.
