Rock Crushers Wanted at Gap Mountain Workday

Help build a turnpike at Gap Mountain in Troy, NH! What’s a Turnpike??? (click to see an example)
This is a strenuous workday where volunteers will excavate, elevate, crush and fill a defined path through a muddy area. This is a chance to do some high-quality trail work and get dirty in the process. The project will improve a new bridge and reduce future erosion. To do this right we need to turn large rocks into small rocks using human powered sledge-hammers. If you’re up for the challenge and want to smash some rocks, please RSVP. Other projects on the mountain include water-bar rebuilding and brushing in a closed section of trail. Volunteers should bring sturdy footwear, work clothes for getting dirty, long pants, gloves, plenty of water water, lunch and snacks. We will supply the rock bars, personal protective equipment (safety glasses, hard hats), and other tools!
Parking information: Park tight – you never know how many people/cars will arrive at the Gap trailhead!
Please RSVP using the link below the map or by emailing Andy Crowley at acrowley@forestsociety.org.
