The Forest Society is currently raising funds to purchase the 195 acre “Powder Major's Forest” in Madbury, Durham and Lee. This property is rich in colonial and native American history and will become a wonderful recreation destination for the local community if we are successful. Since we’ll be holding a number of field trips on the property to aid in the fundraising process, the current landowner is happy to have the Forest Society host a volunteer workday to make the property more accessible. We’ll be working on marking and clearing a portion of the trail system, as well as improving access to certain spots we’d like to highlight on the property. Join us to get a sneak peak of what we hope will be the Forest Society’s newest forest reservation! Meet at 10 a.m. at Tibbetts Field, 25 Lee Road in Madbury.
Bring a bag lunch, water and work gloves. Please wear long pants and long sleeves since there is poison ivy in the area. We’ll provide the tools.
