Forest Exploring- Fun for Kids Hike, Mount Major (Alton, NH)

Mount Major, the well-known eastern peak of the Belknap Range southwest of Lake Winnipesaukee, is one of the most popular hikes in NH.  This hike will involve hiking games for kids as we move along the trail, as well as an opportunity to test our new “Forest Explorer” smartphone app which features a unique, interactive scavenger hunt for kids. While hiking, we will look for and learn about the interest points found on the app as well as discover other interesting natural features found along the trail.  You do not need a smartphone to come on the hike, but if you have one and want to try the app you can.

This hike’s target audience is children, but all children must be attended and supervised by an adult parent or guardian. Children (and adults) should be able to hike 3.8 miles and handle some steep terrain.  Bring lots of water and snacks, and dress appropriately for the weather (bring warm layers even in summer).  Sneakers or hiking shoes please, no crocs/flip flops.
