Conservation Center Floodplain Ranger
The non-profit Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests seeks an enthusiastic, motivated, and exceptionally accurate and organized individual for the position of Membership Coordinator. The successful candidate will be proficient with database/development software (preferably Raiser’s Edge), Microsoft Word and Excel, and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, a strong interest in conservation, and a BA/BS degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
This is a full-time permanent position based at the Conservation Center in Concord. The Membership Coordinator assists with membership and development project initiatives and administration, is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the donor database, and utilizes the database to retrieve information and data files to support the work of the department. The position requires occasional evening and weekend work.

Position Description and Objectives
The position assists the Conservation Center Property Manager in stewardship and monitoring of recreational use on the Merrimack River Outdoor Education and Conservation Area. The position also works to inform the public of the intended uses of the property.
Duties
- Random monitoring of floodplain trail system and parking areas in variable weather conditions
- Forest Society Policy enforcement, including but not limited to:
- "Leave No Trace" Ethics Enforcement
- "No Wheeled Vehicles" Policy Enforcement
- "No Smoking" Policy Enforcement
- "Pet Waste Disposal" Policy Enforcement
- Assist in development and implementation of interpretive education of the property
- Learn and disseminate history of the Forest Society and ecology of the Merrimack River Outdoor Education and Conservation Area, including guided tours
- Coordinate efforts with Floodplain Monitors program
- Perform maintenance and some work with hand tools
- Other land management duties as deemed necessary
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in Environmental Studies, Natural Resources, Ecology, Geography, Biology, Recreation, Education, law enforcement or other related field
- Highly motivated individual with an outgoing personality, strong public communication skills, and outdoor skills. Basic carpentry skills are a plus
- Exhibits good judgment, self-confidence and common sense
- Must demonstrate competency using and maintaining hand tools and power tools
- Valid NH Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and a working cell phone
Hours
- Flexible part-time schedule
- ~30 hours per week; days, evenings, and weekends
- May through September
- $10-$12/hour may be available contingent on funding
